A Mid-Week Market in Support of Georgia Farms

Digging into a Farmer Champion partnership and adjusting to a new normal

In the age of Covid-19, many farm to table restaurants have found themselves all but shuttering their doors, impacting not only their staff but also the farms they source from. Over the years, this group of chefs and farmers has worked tirelessly to cultivate a relationship that supports our local food system and now they are digging in even deeper to support one another through a partnership between Georgia Organics, Farmer Champion restaurant partner Wrecking Bar Brewpub, and a group of Farm to Restaurant and Accelerator farmer members. Read below for details about Wrecking Bar’s Mid-Week Pop-Up market and how to place a custom order for Wednesday pickup.

How the mid-week Pop-Up Market Works

Step 1: Every Friday morning after 9am, head to this page and scroll down to check out the variety of small, local farmers participating.

Step 2: Click on each farm’s logo below to take you to their website. Order directly from each farmer you’d like to purchase from. Remember that Wrecking Bar also offers a menu of beer, wine, takeway dinners, and provisions for pickup! Check their social media and order from them as well. If you order from multiple farms, we'll safely pack your whole order together in one container for you to pick up.

Step 3: Head to Wrecking Bar Brewpub on Wednesdays between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. When you arrive, pull into a parking spot next to The Marianna (entrance with large pillars) and stay in your car (if you’re in one). Read the instructions on the signs in front of your parking spot and someone on staff will bring your orders to you. If you are on foot, there will be signs by the Marianna entrance. Please remember to maintain 6 feet of distance to ensure that both you and the Wrecking Bar staff are minimizing transmission risk. Now head home and enjoy some of the freshest food possible while supporting farmer champion Wrecking Bar Brewpub and your Georgia farmers.

About the Wrecking Bar and our mid-week pop up farm partners: These farmers take the health and safety of their staff and their customers seriously. All of our farmers follow the most up-to-date practices to prevent the transmission of  COVID-19 or any other communicable disease. Because you are buying direct from the farmer, there are far fewer touch points and opportunities for contamination than when you purchase from a grocery store. However, we're taking extra precautions such as:

  • Wearing gloves when handling food or anything that touches food

  • Bagging all produce in plastic to prevent contamination

  • Frequently sanitizing all of our work surfaces such as tables and packing areas

  • Creating a no contact pickup for customers

  • Washing and sanitizing hands regularly

  • Wearing face masks

  • Restricting the flow of customers to prevent groups

  • Not handling money or credit cards

According to the CDC, there is no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19—however, we're still taking every precaution. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as cough or fever, or if you are high risk or caring for someone high risk, we urge you to stay home and to send someone from outside your household to pick up your farm box for you.
